About Worldschooling

Worldschooling can be simply defined as: “the world is our school.”

But it’s more than just a phrase — it’s a powerful philosophy that reimagines how and why learning happens.

Rather than confining education to the four walls of a traditional classroom, worldschooling invites us to step outside, to explore, and to learn from the living, breathing world around us. Every country, every culture, every conversation becomes a textbook; every person, a teacher; every place, a classroom.

Whether we’re trekking through ancient ruins in Peru, wandering the streets of Tokyo, or exploring the woods just beyond our backyard, worldschooling reminds us that meaningful learning is everywhere — waiting to be discovered in both the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Worldschooling is not just an educational approach; it’s a lifestyle rooted in curiosity, connection, wonder, and adventure. It challenges the conventional, and the beautiful thing is — you have the power to create the kind of worldschooling life that you love.

Some families dip their toes into worldschooling during school breaks, weekends, or summer vacations — turning ordinary time off into extraordinary learning experiences.

Others dive in fully, trading permanence for passports and choosing a life of long-term travel, often living abroad for months or even years.

Some worldschoolers attend local schools in new countries, some homeschool or unschool, and others blend various methods to suit their family’s needs. 

Some parents look for traditional jobs in a new country while other parents opt to work remotely or even take extended periods of leave in order to travel and explore.

There is no right or wrong way to worldschool, and every family has the freedom to find the way that works best for them.

The beautiful thing is that we have the opportunity to try something new, and if it doesn’t work, then we can make a change.
